Remembering the Nakba

The following link was provided by Allyson Rowen Taylor in a comment on another post

Santa Clara County and many of its cities recognized Palestinian Culture Day and remembered the Palestinian Day of the Catastrophe (Yom al-Nakbah) on May 15, 2007 with talks, songs, folk dancing, and community recognition awards.

I think it is a great story. Disasters like the dispossession of the Palestinian people and the islanders of Chagos (both had their land taken away from them by the British) will continue to happen until people recognise that these events are crimes.

Solidarity with the victims is a good thing. Support of the victims is a good thing. And it all has to begin with a recognition of the crime committed.
