Lauren Booth in Gaza

Neither Israel nor Egypt have let Tony Blair’s sister-in-law out of Gaza. The BBC:

About 45 people – including Americans, Palestinians and Israelis – took part in the “peace boat” mission last week.

Two vessels – named Liberty and Free Gaza – arrived in Gaza on Saturday 23 August carrying 200 hearing aids for children and 5,000 balloons.

The president of the Free Gaza Movement, Greta Berlin, said it was “a non-violent resistance project to challenge Israel’s siege of Gaza”.

When the boats returned to Cyprus, Ms Booth and a few other activists remained in Gaza.

Now the sister of Mr Blair’s wife Cherie has said she wants to go home but has been prevented – along with three other foreign nationals – from leaving Gaza three times, once by the Israeli authorities through the Erez crossing and twice by the Egyptians via Rafah.

Ms Booth told the BBC: “I’d actually like to say ‘Thank you very much’ to the Israeli authorities at Erez for giving me this fantastic chance to feel just exactly what it is like to be inside what is effectively the world’s largest internment camp, where individuals who should have the right to travel under international law are withheld in a 40km by 10km camp.”

  1. This woman is ludicrous. she would better spend her time stopping the palestinians from butchering each other.

  2. Are you one of those who thinks the Palestinians should be put on a diet?

    As Dov Weisglass suggests:

Israel’s policy was summed up by Dov Weisglass, an adviser to Ehud Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister, earlier this year. ‘The idea is to put the Palestinians on a diet, but not to make them die of hunger,’ he said. The hunger pangs are supposed to encourage the Palestinians to force Hamas to change its attitude towards Israel or force Hamas out of government.

Collective punishment of civilians to achieve political aims is terrorism.

I support those brave enough to break the blockade.

  3. while this sick woman is busy defending these bloodthirsty terrorists, who voted overwhelmingly for terror (hamas) but now ,don’t think they should be punished!!!! Gaza could be a spetacular oasis, with the finest hopitals, schools and farms, but they chose to spend BILLIONS of DOLLARS in weapons to murder civilians in Israel !!!!! The price of europe vicious antisemitism, will be very high,if think life in Israel is hard with all the terrorists around ,wait and see EURABIA,in 50 years, their children will NEVER know peace. NEVER

  4. Another supporter of terror has posted to my blog. Welcome, Lauro Neto. Please spread your views to other websites, too.

Punishing civilians for the actions of their democratically elected governments is exactly how bin Laden justifies his terror attacks.

That is the company you keep. Bear that in mind when your views are despised by all decent people.
